Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for you valuable comment. We agree with your comment on the title of the study and it might have been better to call it a comparative study to avoid misunderstandings. We used the words cross sectional with the aim to describe that we observed/analyzed the expression of autophagy-related proteins at one time point in a selection of patients and controls in the population. It was not our intention to define it as a “cross sectional study” according to the actual textbook definition. Since “cross-sectional study” is a well-defined term in health care and epidemiological studies as correctly mentioned in your comment, the use in our title is confusing.
