Diagnostic significance of serum cholinesterase and lactate dehydrogenase in skin malignancy. |
p. 31 |
N Khan, SP Tyagi, A Salahuddin ABSTRACT: Serum Cholinesterase (CHE) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) levels were estimated in 25 healthy controls and 40 cases of malignancy skin. The method of enzyme estimations were colorimetric. Results depicted a significant fall in serum ChE and a significant rise in serum LDH levels as compared to controls. Of the two enzyme serum ChE was found to be more helpful as it exhibited a rough correlation with tumour size and was also able to differentiate the metastatic from the non metastatic tumours. However, both the enzymes showed no relationship with the degree of differentiation of tumours. It is suggested that determination of these two enzymes may serve as a simple diagnostic tool in malignancy skin. |

p. 37 |
PK Singh, G Singh ABSTRACT: Potency of fluocinolone acetonide cream (0.1 percent) was assessed on two different sites (back and forearms) in ten volunteers using his amine induced wheal suppression technique. The back was proved to be more appropriate and suitable site for assesing the potency of different steroids in comparison to conventional site forearm. |

Betamethasone dipropionate (0.05 percent) plus salicylic acid (3 percent) ointment versus dexamethasone trimethyl acetate (1 percent) and salicylic acid 4 percent ointments in chronic dermatoses. |
p. 41 |
SP Chattopadhyay, PN Arora, S Anand, SD Sharma ABSTRACT: This single-blind (blind evaluation) clinical study was undertaken to compare the efficacy and safety of betamethasone dipropionate plus salicylic acid (Diprosalic) ointment against the combined use of dexamethasone trimethyl acetate (0.1 percent) and salicyclic acid (4 percent) ointments in 110 patients with chronic steroid-responsive dermatoses like psoriasis or chronic eczema. Both the treatment regimens were effective and safe. Diprosalic ointment was found to be superior and relapse rate was significantly low . |

Bowen's disease : a case report. |
p. 45 |
C Ramanan, A Ghorpade, PR Manglani, SP Bhagoliwal ABSTRACT: A case of Bowen's disease which is infrequently reported in the Indian literature is described. This patient having a single lesion of Bowen's disease on the back, was being treated as lichen simplex chronicus in a mines hospital. The diagnosis of Bowen's disease was confirmed after histopathological examination. The possibility of Bowen's disease must therefore be kept in mind, while encountering some common skin disorders. |
