K Godse, U Khopkar, V Nigale, SS Trasi, SL. Wadhwa

ABSTRACT: Three diverse presentations of mycosis fungoides are reported. The first case manifested with poikiloderma vasculare atrophicans with photosensitivity. Case 2 had erythematous infiltrated, scaly patch es and plaques with a single nodule. Case 3 presented with widespread nodular lesions. Skin biopsy revealed features of T cell lymphoma in all patients. Lymph node biopsies showed dermatogenic lymphadenopathy in all. Bone marrow and peripheral blood smears showed Sezary cells in case 2. Case 1 received photochemotherapy whereas case 2 and 3 were treated with cytotoxic drugs with unsatisfactory response in all.

Pruritus and activity of pemphigus vulgaris
S Agarwal, G Kalla, R Khullar, AK Khare, K. Ahmed
January-March 1992, 37(1):13-14
ABSTRACT: Appearance of pruritus was followed by relapse or aggravation of existing lesions in three histopathologically confirmed cases of pemphigus vulgaris. The conventional antithistaminics were not of much use in relieving the pruritus. The pruritus was controlled only when the pemphigus vulgaris was controlled by oral/parenteral steriod therapy.

Hierarchy, kinship and social interaction among japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata).
M Singh, L D'Souza
January-March 1992, 37(1):15-27
ABSTRACT: The study reports the relationship between hierarchy, genetic relatedness and social interaction in captive japanese macaques. Grooming and proximity were found to be positively related to both dominance rank and degrees of relatedness. Ranks also positively correlated with threats while no relationship was observed between genetic relationships and agonistic interactions. The removal of alpha-male tightened the male hierarchy while the female hierarchy became relatively loose. Afflictive behaviour became more correlated with ranks than degrees of genetic relatedness. In the absence of alpha-male the next dominant male avoided involvement in either agonistic or affiliative interactions with reintroduced animals and group females.
