ABSTRACT: An upper GI endoscopy was carried out in 21 patients with lichen planus. Thirteen (61.9 percent) patients had oral mucosal lesions characteristic of lichen planus. Mean duration of skin lesions was 1.9 years and that of oral mucosal lesions was 1.2 years. Commnest site of oral mucosal involvement was mucous membrane over the cheek. Upper GI endoscopy revealed mucosal abnormalities in 16 (76.2 percent) patients. The lesions were suggestive of lichen planus in 14 (66.6 percent). Associated changes were oesophagitis and gastritis. None of the 21 patients had oesophageal stricture. Musocal biopsy from the lesions in the upper GI tract in 11 patients was suggestive of lichen planus.

ABSTRACT: Two cases of mycobacterial infection by Mycobacterium fortuitum and Mycobacterium chelonae are described in immunecompetent individuals. In both patients the lesions clinically simulated mycetoma. One patient developed multiple discharging sinuses over the abdomen, 3 months after a penetrating injury while the second had an indurated plaque with sinuses over the left thigh without a prior history of trauma. M fortuitum complex infections should thus be considered in the differential diagnosis of mycetoma. An increased awareness is required for the diagnosis of these infections.

ABSTRACT: Two cases of midline granuloma are reported for rarity. One case showed dramatic improvement by radiotherapy. Another case presented with rare intracerebral manifestation.
